The Greater Portland/
Scarborough Maine Walk MS
The official Team Powered "Dog Walk" at the Greater Portland/Scarborough Walk MS will be the 1/2 mile loop around Memorial Park right near Scarborough High School. Do one loop or six, we'll be waiting for you at the doggie Pit Stop with water and treats.
For the more adventurous, the regular route is a little over 6 miles long and begins and ends at the school. There is a "sag wagon" – a bus or van that goes around the course and picks up those who are tired.
On the day of the walk, team members report to Scarborough High School at 8:00 AM, turn in their waiver forms and money they've raised, collect any premiums that they've earned, gather for group/team pictures, and enjoy snacks and music that are provided. The walk proper begins at about 9:00 AM and lunch is served afterwards.
Walkers ask others to sponsor them with a contribution to the MS Society. Please keep in mind that it costs $20-$25 per person to host the walk and any pledges above that go toward funding national research and the Maine Chapter programs. The MS Society gives out premiums (several different ones, depending on how much you've raised) to individuals in order to encourage fundraising.
